Methanation of carbon oxides

Print Send to a Friend

Catalysts: RANG-19, RANG-19PR

Application

The RANG-19 and RANG-19 PR catalysts are designed for the methanation of carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide. This process allows a practically full removal of carbon oxides from gas streams and is used mainly in the plants producing the synthesis gas for the ammonia production.

Characteristics

RANG-19The main components of the RANG-19 catalyst are NiO, Al2O3 and CaO. An active component of the catalyst after its reduction is nickel. Alumina is a structural promoter which provides the catalyst with a good thermal stability and high mechanical strength. Calcium oxide enhances activity of the catalyst, and facilitates its reduction. The RANG-19 PR catalyst is the prereduced form of the RANG-19 catalyst. The active form of the catalysts is formed at the time of reduction NiO to Ni carried out in a commercial methanator.
